Educational Background

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), with a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas, and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida. I wasn’t born in Austin, but I’ve lived here for over 30 years, and I understand the community and systems quite well. As the parent of three adopted children & a social worker with decades of experience.

I bring a lifetime of advocacy and passion for the issues facing families who are impacted by emotional and behavioral concerns.

Professional Experience

I am also an adjunct professor at the School of Social Work at University of Texas and at the School of Social Work at Tulane University. I love the opportunity this allows to influence and create change in the young adults at the university. My work as a clinical supervisor, providing that training and guidance to new clinicians, is also an important and meaningful part of my professional life, and provides that continuum of clinical oversight that will ensure the most skilled therapists provide services that are respectful and incorporate evidence-based techniques..

I have taught protective parenting and anger management groups at a domestic violence center, facilitated groups for adults and adolescents throughout the Austin area, provide continuing education and presentations to other professionals and the community about trauma, attachment, child development and tolerance. I love what I do, have a great passion for social and emotional struggles, and have also volunteered for organizations such as the Children’s Community Resource Coordination Group, Feed My People, Faculty Liaison for Socks for the Sole, and the Board of Directors for PLAN of Central Texas.

I am a skilled and experienced family clinician, having worked with families at all developmental stages throughout my career. I also enjoy my work with couples to create better communication and intimacy. My clinical practice is over a decade, and my work with individuals and the community goes back for decades.

Personal Note

Personally…I also enjoy hiking with my dog, relaxing fun with family and friends, live music in Austin Texas, outdoor activities, and the allure of a good book.

All people have potential for growth and adaptation throughout life.

With encouragement, kindness, guidance and humor – I can help you and your family move Life Forward.
